Types of Meets and the Qualification Process
Mini-Meets
Mini-Meets are held on most Tuesday nights during June and July. The cost of these is not covered by the team. It is only $1 for each event you want to enter. There is no advance registration. They are fun and informal. Just show up and bring a fistful of dollars. More information will be provided as the time gets closer.
Developmental Meets
These meets are held early in the season. Pre-registration is required. The team covers the cost. You will need to fill out a registration form so that we know how many are participating and what events your athlete wants to compete in. These meets give the new athletes as well as their parents an opportunity to see how a meet is run. They also provide an opportunity to try out some different events to see how they fit.
S - Sanctioned Meets
The registration process for sanctioned meets is the same as the developmental meets. The results of these meets are recorded and may be used to qualify for the Missouri Valley Championship Meet. (See more on qualifying below.)
Q - Qualifying Meets
There are always many questions about the qualification process. State is actually a sanctioned meet and a qualifying meet. The top 4 finishers at the Kansas State Meet and the Missouri State Meet move on to the Missouri Valley Meet. Also, those who participated in any sanctioned meet (including State) are placed on a performance list. The top 8 times on the performance list (besides the State winners) also qualify for Missouri Valley.
The top 4 finishers at the Missouri Valley Meet advance to Region VIII.
The top 4 finishers at Region VIII advance to Nationals.
